How NextStepU Supports Educators

Supporting Transition Planning Within the IEP

We support schools by helping students and families understand the transition planning process and explore realistic options after high school. Our work aligns with IEP transition goals and focuses on preparing students for employment, training programs, or post-secondary education.

Preparing Students for Adult Services

Many students will work with adult service systems such as the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). We help students and families understand these systems and prepare for referral so that services can begin as early as possible.

High School and Beyond Plan Alignment

Washington requires every student to complete a High School and Beyond Plan as part of graduation requirements. We help students connect their High School and Beyond Plan to their transition goals so that coursework, career exploration, and post-secondary planning align with their future plans.

Collaboration With School Teams

We work collaboratively with educators, transition coordinators, and IEP teams. Our goal is to support the transition planning process, reinforce student-centered planning, and help ensure students leave high school with a clear and realistic plan for the future.
